Media students at Walsall College have made it into the top five finalists of Innocent’s Mini-Movies competition and are now in with a chance of having their video shown on primetime TV.

At the beginning of the year, Innocent made a short film about an innocent superhero smoothie who is out to save the peckish. They then set up the Mini Movies Competition, asking film fans and budding movie makers to shoot a 30-second sequel to their ad.

The students’ film, ‘Vegetable Vengeance’ was shortlisted by the judging panel out of 250 entries from across the country.

It is now up to the public to decide which video they like best and vote online to keep their favourite in with a chance of winning.

The Mini-Movies competition winners will have their film screened on prime-time TV at the end of June, along with winning £5000 in cash and a special weekend in London, including 2 tickets to the BFI London Film Festival.

The shortlisted videos are available for viewing and voting on the Innocent YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/innocentdrinksltd. Voting is open now, and will remain open until 15th May, with the final winner announced on 18th May.

Media student Nerissa Sharman commented: “The advert was really fun to make and we put a lot of effort in making an original and creative concept. It’s amazing to have made it to the final of a national competition and we’re all excited about the possibility of having our advert screened on national television!”

Matt Reynolds, Media Lecturer at Walsall College said: “I’m very excited at the prospect of having our students create something that will be broadcast across the UK. We had a lot of fun making ‘Vegetable Vengeance’ And it’s been a great way for students to learn about the process of creating a TV ad and liaising with national companies. Please log on and vote!”
