Two Walsall College Hairdressing students are set to compete against the finest crop of talent in the Midlands, in the regional heat of the Wella XPOSURE hairdressing competition, after impressing judges in the qualifying rounds with their photograph entries.

Kirsty Pearce and Kylie Maritza have snipped their way through to the regional heat of the competition, taking place at Walsall College Wisemore Campus on Thursday 1st March.

Wella XPOSURE is the leading nationwide hairdressing competition for students. Now in its third year, it offers hairdressing students the opportunity to compete in an inter-college challenge.

Ideal for those looking to take their first step on the competition ladder, XPOSURE promises to celebrate imagination, creativity, and talent amongst young hairdressers. It is the ideal springboard for any college student, with winners receiving great exposure within the industry.

Top prizes include £1,000 of Wella Professionals training vouchers, a £500 tool kit, a chance to work with a top hairdresser for the day and educational support for a year.

Paula Seeley, Hairdressing Lecturer at Walsall College said: “Having two of our students make it through to represent the College in the regional heat is a fantastic achievement and we wish them the best of luck on the day. Taking part in competitions is a great way for students to test their skills against their peers, push their creativity and talents to the next level and reach their full potential in the competitive hairdressing industry.

“It is also the second year running that we are hosting the regional heat of the competition in our first class Academy Salon, and we could not be more delighted to showcase our facilities.”

The photograph entries were taken by the Curtis Jenson Photography studio based on Green Lane in Walsall.
