A Level students are not the only ones celebrating their success at the moment, as many students on vocational courses are also receiving their results and certificates.

With high levels of students already receiving distinctions and merits and more grades set to come in from various awarding bodies, Walsall College is enjoying a promising start to the results period.

Walsall College’s range of work related qualifications are designed to accommodate the needs of employers and allow for progression to university. They are a vocational alternative to the academic route offered by A Levels, giving students hands on skills and knowledge in their chosen industry.

Amongst the students celebrating was Music student Tom Drinan (22 from Walsall), who received two distinctions and a merit. He commented: “I’d been playing guitar for a couple of years and decided I wanted to go into music as a career, so chose to study Music at Walsall College. The people on the course and the tutors have all been excellent, and I’ve now got the confidence to go on and do more with my music. I’m now going on to Southampton Solent University to study Popular Music and Record Production. I eventually plan to own my own recording studio or be a Sound Engineer for bands on tour”.

Business student, Samantha Bailey (19 from Walsall), who received three distinctions said: “Studying in sixth form at school didn’t appeal to me, so I chose a business course at Walsall College’s vocational sixth form, V6. I have enjoyed everything about coming here and I’m really pleased to have achieved three distinctions. It was a lot of hard work but definitely worth it in the end! I will be returning to Walsall College in September to study HNC and HND Business, and I eventually aspire to become a HR Manager”.

Walsall College offers a range of full and part time courses and its state of the art facilities give students an exceptional learning environment to start their journey to success. Walsall College will be enrolling for courses 25th August – 9th September. For more information about enrolling on a course at Walsall College, please call 01922 657000.
