Students Celebrate Science
Walsall College recently brought Science to life during a Graduate Science Fayre, held at the College’s Wisemore Campus on Wednesday 16th March.
The event was staged in support of the National Science and Engineering Week, which is taking place up and down the country during the 11-20th March 2011.
Throughout the day, Science students set up stalls in the College, providing fellow students and guests with fascinating facts and interactive science experiments for people to take part in.
Students used a range of live demonstrations and project work to show how much fun science can be and how it relates to our everyday lives. Local school pupils were also invited to attend the fayre and vote for the most innovative project on show.
Stands and activities on the day included a Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) display, a rollercoaster building, an experiment into how exercise affects the memory and washing powder making.
National Science and Engineering Week is the UK’s widest celebration of science and engineering. The event at Walsall College was one of many taking place across the country throughout the week to showcase what the subjects have to offer and get people excited about science.
Lita Grice, Science Lecturer for Walsall College, said: “We were delighted to be celebrating National Science and Engineering Week with our Walsall College Graduate Science Fayre. It was a great opportunity for our students to get out there and show everybody the exciting work they do as part of their course, whilst promoting science as a subject on a wider scale”.
