Sam to Hit the West End
Talented Music student Samantha Dorrance is all set for the West End, after being selected to play the leading role of ‘Laura’ in the West End production, ‘Dreamboats and Petticoats’, touring the UK and Ireland for six months.
Sam has now only a short time to learn and rehearse the role before they start touring on 6th June. She is now working hard to complete units before she moves to London next week.
Marion Spencer, Music Lecturer commented: “Sam has worked consistently well throughout her two years with us and with this additional push she will achieve good grades in her National Diploma.
“Congratulations to her for having juggled her professional engagements very successfully with her studying. We wish her all the best and hope to arrange a trip from the department when she performs in Birmingham in June or Wolverhampton next November”.
Sam commented: “I’m really excited to have landed a leading role in Dreamboats and Petticoats! It’s going to be hard work and I will really miss my family, but it will be worth it. This is my perfect job: the character I am playing is just like me and it combines singing and dancing, whilst being on stage with a live band.
“In the future, I want to carry on working in theatre, television and music. I want to be well respected in the industry.
“I would definitely encourage people to take Music at Walsall College; it has been brilliant. The tutors have been so understanding and supportive; I will miss everybody and hope to stay in touch in the future.”
