Rachel Snips To Success!
A Walsall College Hairdressing student has recently snipped to success in the hairdressing industry, by opening a brand new salon in Walsall.
Rachel Randhawa, a second year Foundation Degree in Salon Business Management student, has used the skills she has been acquiring on her course to open the Lussh Hair & Beauty salon on George St in St Matthew’s Quarter, Walsall.
Staffed entirely by former Walsall College students, Lussh Hair & Beauty will specialise in providing a high quality service to customers, offering the full range of hair, beauty and nail treatments.
Rachel has been a student at Walsall College for five years, studying NVQ Hairdressing levels 1-3, before undertaking the two year Foundation Degree in Salon Business Management, a course that helps students develop the supervisory and management skills relevant to the hairdressing or beauty therapy sector.
Rachel commented: “I had always done manual work in a factory but I wanted to do a job that I enjoyed, so after having my children, I decided to study Hairdressing at Walsall College. I have really enjoyed being back in education and learning new skills; I feel a huge sense of accomplishment.
“The Foundation Degree course at Walsall College has not only taught me advanced hairdressing skills, it has given me the skills to successfully run my own business.
“I am so excited to be opening my new salon, which has hair, beauty and nail treatments available all under one roof. I’ve encouraged all my friends at College to progress to the Foundation Degree course as it teaches you so much and gives you the extra experience and confidence to begin a new business venture.
“In the future, I plan to give Walsall College students the chance to do work placements at my salon, so I can give a little back to the Hair and Beauty Department.”
