National Day of Strike Action - 30th November

We have been advised by the University & College Union (UCU) and Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) and UNISON that members of UCU, UNISON and ATL employed by Walsall College will be taking industrial action in the form of a one day strike on Wednesday 30 November 2011.

The UCU, UNISON and ATL represents many of the academic, academic-related managers and business support staff at the College and so it is likely that there will be some changes to teaching activities on this day. We are advised that the strike is over the issue of the proposed changes to the Teachers’ Pension and the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Walsall College will be open as normal on this day and we will make every effort to maintain functions as near to normal as possible.

Walsall College regrets that it is faced with this industrial action and will take every possible step to minimise the disruption to our learners.
