On Monday 14th February, students from Walsall College Glee Club got in the Valentines Day mood by performing a number of love songs to the public in Walsall.

The group of 11 students gathered outside the New Art Gallery Walsall, along with V Inspired project leaders, to perform a number of love songs, including Love is in the Air and Love is All Around.

The flash mob was organised as part of a volunteering fundraiser through the V Inspired programme, which is aimed at 16- 25 year olds. This is the first public performance that the Walsall College Glee Club has done since starting in November 2010 and the students received a lot of positive interest from the public passing by.

It is expected that over £100 was raised towards the British Heart Foundation Valentine Appeal and the group hope to do more similar performances for charities in the future.

Emma Wilson, Glee Club Organiser said: “It was a great experience for me and the other Glee Club members to perform in public, and an opportunity for Walsall College to showcase its talent to the public”.

Glee Club member, Scott Harding added: “I enjoyed taking part in the Valentine flash mob performance in Walsall and look forward to performing more regularly both inside and outside College”.

Walsall College Glee Club was set up at the beginning of November and is delivered by Performing Arts student, Emma Wilson. The group runs every Tuesday from 1:30pm and is open to all students as part of That Bit Extra.
