Flutterby's Success For Vanessa!
A former Walsall College Hairdressing student has snipped her way to career success and is now celebrating the opening of her brand new salon.
Vanessa Seeley (23), officially opened Flutterby’s hair and beauty salon in Cannock on Monday 14th February, which offers a full range of hair and beauty treatments.
Since studying NVQ Level 1-3 in Hairdressing at Walsall College, Vanessa went on to work at VIP Hair salon in Penkridge, where she worked as a Senior Stylist for four years. She has also continued to enhance her skills further with additional courses in advanced cutting, product management and colouring.
Vanessa commented: “I’m so excited to have opened my own business. You get so much more satisfaction when it’s your own salon and it’s a good feeling coming here each morning.
“I eventually want to open another salon along with this one, which will run as a training academy to nurture new hairdressing talent. The best part about my job is being able to give people a fantastic cut and colour, making them look and feel good. It’s such a fun job; I could never sit in an office typing all day!
“I would definitely encourage people to study hairdressing at Walsall College. The best part about my time at the College was learning the advanced creative colours and cuts during the level 3 course and gaining real work experience in the College’s Graduate Academy salon.
“I wasn’t just training, I was doing the job with real clients in a professional environment; I really started to feel like a hairdresser. The courses set me up for my future career in every way. The training was fantastic and the tutors were great at taking me that extra step forward to push my skills further.
“I don’t think you could get a better College anywhere in the country. You get shown everything you need to know to be successful in the hairdressing industry”.
