E.ON Celebrate 100% Success
Twenty members of staff from E.ON are currently celebrating 100% success rates on their City & Guilds Certificate in Electrical Technology Engineering course.
So far, students have achieved 40 distinctions, 18 credits and 2 passes across 3 modules, based on the electricity industry, electricity supply and electrical technology.
The cohort of E.ON staff have been attending Walsall College’s Green Lane Campus on an intense 7 week block basis.
This scheme is specifically aimed at personnel employed or serving an apprenticeship in the electrical supply industry, who are directly involved in the capacities of overhead line erection, cable jointing and fitting.
The qualification is used by the major electricity transmission and distribution companies in the UK, Walsall College is currently working with EUSkills and the industry in developing its replacement the C&G 2339.
Richard Few, Electrical Engineering Lecturer, said: “These apprenticeships are an ideal recruitment and training tool that allows the industry to ‘grow their own’ workforce. This is extremely important as skilled employees are becoming increasingly difficult to recruit.
“We are confident we are developing engineers for the future and this course provides students with the skills needed in the workforce. The course is designed around the needs of their organisation and directly address skills shortages within the industry.”
