College Gains healthy FE Award
Walsall College has recently gained the Healthy FE recognition award for the work we do in developing healthy services for staff and students, in partnership with local and regional health services, local authorities and others.
The award provides evidence to the current Ofsted and ECM requirements and supports improved student performance and achievement.
The Healthy FE programme, funded by the Department of Health, aims to improve the health and well being of students and staff in the learning and skills sector.
This sector-led programme seeks to support FE colleges’ community leadership role and the wider learning and skills sector in responding to the needs of the environment around them.
It enhances a provider’s ability to cater for the health and wellbeing of its staff and students, through the self-review tool, support through partnership with local health services and established regional networks.
The College gained the award for the range of activity the College undertakes to secure the health and well-being of students, including health weeks and a dedicated health centre.
Student Finance and Support Co-ordinator, Gail Houghton said: “We are delighted to be a part of this exciting programme which will enhance the health and wellbeing of students across the country. The Healthy FE award is a fantastic opportunity for everyone at the College to improve their health and well being, and it will be a great to start the new academic year with this commitment”.
