Walsall College has expanded its partnership with local home repair and maintenance company, Homeserve, by becoming the company’s preferred training provider for their new intake of plumbing apprentices.

Ten plumbing apprentices have been recruited by Homeserve and recently attended the College for their induction and to officially begin their apprenticeship.

During the day, the students who are located nationally, were given a tour of the facilities at both the Green Lane and Wisemore Campuses, and completed the enrolment process.

Talent Development Consultant for Homeserve, Kerry Hastings said: “This year Homeserve has made a commitment to work in partnership with local educational establishments. We are really excited to have 10 plumbing apprentices starting their training through Walsall College. We hope the partnership will now go from strength to strength, with more projects and new initiatives being set up in the near future”.

Plumbing Apprentice with Homeseve, Dominic Haldane commented: “I spent 20 years working in financial services before being made redundant. I decided to take an apprenticeship in order to gain transferable skills that I could retain for my future career. I’m really pleased to be starting the apprenticeship. It has given me a job and I also get a qualification at the end of it”.

Head of Cluster for Digital and Technology at Walsall College, Jackie Pugh said: “Walsall College is committed to working in partnership with businesses and employers, ensuring their training needs are thoroughly met. We were delighted to welcome the new apprentices to Walsall College to complete their enrolment. This is an exciting time for Walsall College, as we move into a new partnership with Homeserve”.
