College Celebrates VQ Day
Walsall College recently joined the fourth annual VQ Day celebrations by hosting a series of award ceremonies during the week of the special day.
Award ceremonies for each cluster have been taking place across the College, in order to celebrate the outstanding success our students achieve.
Overall Student of the Year winners for each area will then be invited to an additional V6 Awards Dinner on the evening of Wednesday 6th July. The V6 Awards Dinner will be a glittering ceremony for outstanding V6 students to shine.
VQ Day 2011 took place on Wednesday 22nd June to recognise the value of vocational qualifications and celebrate vocational achievement.
During VQ Day, the College was also visited by Cath Jadhav, Head of Qualifications Standards for Ofqual, who came to see how the College was celebrating the day and speak to students.
Peter Mitchell, CEO of Edge commented: “Vocational qualifications have never been more important to the economy and the individual; they deliver the trained, talented employees businesses are crying out for and ensure young people have the skills needed to succeed in education and work.
“The government is investing in vocational routes acknowledging their value and we need to come together to do the same. It is great to see so many people join forces to celebrate vocational achievement on VQ Day.”
