Advanced Apprenticeship for IT & Telecoms Professionals
Every year 140,000 IT jobs need to be filled. National IT Partnership – NiTP – are offering this Apprenticeship over an intensive 7 month period, in partnership with Walsall College. NiTP graduates are well positioned for a successful career within the IT sector, and typical career paths include:
- IT Technician,
- IT and Telecoms Engineer
- Network Engineer
- Network Administrator
- Call Centre IT Help Desk
- Systems Analyst
The NiTP Apprenticeship will equip the learners with academic as well as globally recognised industry qualifications. Graduates can expect to command salaries ranging from around £12,000 to £40,000 or more a year.
What is an apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships are high quality work-based training programmes for young people who want to earn while they learn and gain practical and transferable skills that today’s employers are looking for.
Who are they for?
Apprenticeships are open to anyone aged between 16 and 18 years old living in England and not taking part in full-time education.
What do I need to start?
Previous training
Ideally you will hold 5 GCSE grade A* – C including English and Math’s or Key Skills level 2 in Application of Number and Communication
An interest in IT, and developing a career in IT
Employment
You do not need a job prior to starting on the NiTP Apprenticeship programme.
The NiTP team will work with you to find employment to fulfill the work placement elements of the programme and provide support you after you have graduated.
How long will my apprenticeship take?
The NiTP Advanced Apprenticeship for IT & Telecoms Professionals will be completed in 7 months.
What will I get out of it?
Earnings
- Whilst on the apprenticeship you will receive a training wage of £2.50 per hour. A normal working week is 35 hours, and this equates to a wage of £87.50 per week.
- Research also shows that apprentices earn, on average, over £100,000 more throughout their lifetime than other employees
Qualifications
When you have successfully completed your apprenticeship in you will gain:
- Diploma in ICT Professional Competence
- Certificate in ICT Systems and Principles
- CompTIA A+
- Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist (MCTS)
- Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)
- Key Skills Application of Number and Communication Level 2
Prospects
- Apprenticeships train you in the skills employers want, so when you’ve finished you can carry on working, maybe get promoted or go on to higher education in a college or university.
- Typical career paths include: IT Technician, IT and Telecoms Engineer, Network Engineer, Network Administrator, IT Help Desk Support, Systems Analyst.
How much does an apprenticeship cost?
Nothing your apprenticeship is fully funded by the Government whilst you are employed.
