Thai Group Expand Their Skills
A group of 30 students from Thailand are currently visiting Walsall College for 8 weeks studying an English programme.
All students are living with local families and will be taking an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) English exam at the end of the course.
Karen Young,International Support Co-ordinator at Walsall College said: “The College currently has over 200 international students from all over the world, including Thailand, Germany, Finland and Italy.
“Since opening the doors to our world class Wisemore Campus last year, we have seen a marked increase of international students wishing to study in Walsall. Our links with partner colleges are growing each year and we are exploring opportunities for future work with our international partner colleges”.
Dr Choksaurin Jitchoknimit, IELTS Preparation Course Project Manager at Samufprakarn Assumption School in Thailand commented, “The course is very good and prepares students for IELT tests which they will need in order to go onto university. The campus is very nice here, with good facilities for students to use. The students have been living with nice host families and have been given a real experience of life in the UK”.
Brother Witthaya Thepkom, of St Gabriel’s Foundation, Thailand, said: “It’s a good college and a good opportunity for me to come here and improve on my own English skills”. Brother Nontacha Srivilai, said: “Walsall College is a beautiful college to study and I hope I have the opportunity to come back in the future. There are many facilities to help us study and the people are kind and friendly”.
Student, Pemika Laohapanich, added: “I have found the visit to Walsall College fun and interesting. The teaching is very good here and I now feel more confident when I am talking to people in English”.
