International Welcome Party
On Tuesday 1st November, the International Team held their annual International Welcome Event in Jerome’s Restaurant which was attended by around 60 students from around the world, including India, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, PR China, Hong Kong, Russia, Pakistan, Iran and Germany.
As well as our International students, some of our partner agents were also able to attend, including Amrit Karra from Karra and Karra Consultancy, who recruit students from India; and Jalal Aljayyousi from International Education Links, who recruit students from Saudi Arabia.
The event started with a number of presentations from College staff including Student Services, Students’ Union and the EFL team. This was followed by a talk on Safety by Chris Small from the EFL team.
The students then engaged in party games and a buffet meal full of International flavours. Once the meal was over, the students danced the night away.
Steven Loverock, International Student Coordinator said: “It was great to see the International staff and students mixing together and everyone learnt some new dance moves. Our international student numbers are increasing every year and these events provide an ideal opportunity for students to make new friends and develop friendships which can last a lifetime”.
Manjeet Kumari-Lal, Head of International added: “It was a pleasure to welcome our international students and international partners to the first international social event of this academic year. The event was huge success. International students had the chance to meet other students, to find out about the services the College offers and to give their feedback on what their thoughts were on a range of areas, from the advice they received, to the enrolment process and the responsiveness of the international team.
“The event also saw the launch of the International buddying scheme where a second year student will mentor new students to further assist them with settling into the UK. Students particularly enjoyed the food and music as they felt it helped them to celebrate Diwali, Halloween and Eid with new friends!”
