Bursary
Just 17% of people in Walsall have a qualification of Level 4 and above, against a national average of 29%. Walsall also has significant areas of mass deprivation which can be a barrier to achievement.
Walsall College is committed to increasing the number of local people undertaking and achieving higher level skills.
Establishing a scholarship, prize or bursary is an excellent way of helping to ensure that the most gifted students, regardless of their circumstances, can have the opportunity to study at Walsall College and achieve their dreams.
A Bursary is a cash award that does not have to be repaid providing the student completes the academic year.
There are two types of bursary that can be awarded:
- Means tested which is available for students whose parents earn under a threshold value per annum
- Performance based, generally given to reward excellence for performance in the exams preceding the entrance on to a higher level programme.
