Skills for Life

Access Courses sit in our Skills for Life Department and are designed specifically with the needs of learners 19 years or over in mind. They provide a second chance for learners whose social and/or educational experiences have, so far, prevented them from realising their potential. Each subject consists of six vocational units and four core foundation units in English Language, Mathematics, Study Skills and Information Communication Technology. The College currently offers four options namely: Education Studies, Social Work, Nursing and Health Studies, and Business. Each option prepares learners for higher education in their chosen vocational area.

Access Courses are full-time and are run over a minimum of 16 hours (18 hours for Education Studies). Lectures and tutorials will most likely take place between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm with time for private study.
