BTEC National Diploma for IT Practitioners
Level 3 Wisemore Campus 2 Years Full Time
This course aims to provide learners with the practical skills and knowledge of IT and includes both software and
hardware elements, which may include specialism’s such as games programming, networking and/or web development. The course consists of 18 IT related units. 12 units are studied in the first year with the remaining 6 in
the second year. Opportunities to gain a recognised Microsoft qualifications are available. There is also the
opportunity to join an Enterprise Scheme for those that are interested in becoming entrepreneurs and starting
their own business and gaining a further qualification to recognise this at Level 2. Homework or private study is
required.
Entry Requirements
By interview and initial assessment plus 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including Maths or an overall Merit achieved on
the BTEC First Diploma in IT or equivalent, and the Key Skills Application of Number qualification at Level 2.
Progression
Progression to a HND or Foundation Degree in Computing.
