Progression Agreements
What Are Progression Agreements?
Progression Agreements between Colleges and Universities identify clear progression routes, for vocational learners, into and through Higher Education and, subject to progression agreement course requirements, may guarantee you a place, a conditional place or an interview for a specific course.
Practically it means that a specific University or Higher Education Institution (HEI) has carefully checked that a particular level 3 course prepares you, in terms of skills and knowledge, for study on identified higher level courses. Progression agreements provide clear statements about what you, the vocational learner, need to do to progress onto these courses including the recognition of prior experience, credits, levels and other qualifications or equivalencies. This ensures that you have the best chance of successfully accessing and completing higher level courses.
How are they used?
Progression Agreements can provide access to full time and part time study for a range of qualifications e.g. Certificate in Higher Education, Diploma in Higher Education, HNC, HND, Foundation Degree and Honours Degree. These may be provided by Universities, Higher Education Institutions, Further Education Colleges or by distance learning with the Open University. If applying to University you are able to indicate that you want to use a Progression Agreement on your UCAS application form.
