This practical course will give you the skills and disciplines related to working in the performing arts. You will become part of the College’s own theatre company. The course provides a broad introduction to all aspects of performance, including acting, singing and dance techniques, improvisation, devising and basic technical theatre. Research and a portfolio of work will support practical assignments. Assessment is through assignment work and special projects. You will take part in workshops, small and large scale productions and be encouraged to develop an understanding of live performance.
You will have opportunities to go on theatre trips and backstage tours. Private study is required and the course offers opportunities to gain qualifications in Functional Skills English, Maths and or ICT.

Entry Requirements

By interview, initial assessment plus an individual acting audition; no formal entry requirements, although GCSEs in Drama and or English are preferable (recommended grades D – E to ensure coping with written work); Foundation and Access programmes in related subjects will be taken into consideration; a commitment to performing is essential.
