HND Fine Arts

Level 5 Wisemore Campus Two years part time or one year full time following successful completion of the HNC Fine Art

This exciting new programme allows learners the opportunity to develop their creative skills on our highest level Fine Art course.

Fine artists create original works of art using a variety of methods, such as painting, drawing, sculpture, engraving, printmaking, photography or lithographs. They work from their own ideas or to an order or commission from an individual or an organisation.

The Edexcel Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Fine Arts offers the opportunity to specialise within the scope of the units available. This exciting programme gives learners the opportunity to develop their creative skills on our highest level Fine Art course. The development of a highly individual working practice in a diverse range of media is actively encouraged and participation in presenting and exhibiting artwork is an integral component of the HND programme.

This course has been designed to offer progression for those who have some prior experience in Art and Design and especially suits those who have completed the HNC in
Fine Art (please read HNC Fine Art programme description).

The HND will therefore be delivered across one year and will encourage you to adopt professional approaches leading to further study or employment within the arts sector and has been developed for individuals who
want to maximise their artistic potential.

We encourage a highly personalised approach and with intensive studio practice aim for you to develop your own Fine Art identity. Many projects link with industry based assignments and the department creates exciting
opportunities for learners to experience including possible trips to Europe or America.

Throughout the course you will have the opportunity to utilise a wide range of both traditional and non-traditional materials and techniques including analogue and digital
media.

Homework or private study is required.

 

Entry Requirements

By interview plus either A Levels, a National Diploma, Access to Higher Education Certificates in a related subject or successful completion of a one year Foundation Course in Art & Design. Mature learners without any formal qualifications will be considered with relevant experience subject to interview and portfolio.

Progression

A key progression path for Edexcel Higher National Diploma learners is to the second or third year of a degree or honours degree programme, depending on the match of the Edexcel Higher National units to the degree programme in question.
