HNC Performing Arts

The performing arts include singing, acting and dancing, as well as backstage roles such as design and stage management. Rewards for those who reach the top of their profession can be significant, but this is a demanding and highly-competitive environment.

The Edexcel Level 4 Higher National Certificates in Performing Arts offers the opportunity to specialise within the scope of the units available.

Upon starting the programme you will become part of the College’s own theatre company and as such work on productions for both internal and external audiences.

The course is designed to provide a specialist vocational programme providing opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques and attributes essential for successful performance in working life. Learners will have the opportunity to focus on the development of higher level skills in a performing arts context.

Learners will keep up to date with their progress through regular tutorials and ongoing assessment of assignment work and special projects. The HNC in performing arts will provide opportunities for potential workers in the performing arts industries to achieve a nationally recognised Level 4 vocationally specific qualification.

The course may involve exciting opportunities for learners to experience including possible trips to Europe or America.

Homework or private study is required.

 

Entry Requirements

By interview and audition plus A Levels, a National Diploma or Access to Higher Education Certificates in a related subject.

Mature learners without any formal qualifications will be considered with relevant experience subject to interview / audition.

Progression

A key progression path for Edexcel Higher National Certificate learners is directly onto the Higher National Diploma or indeed to the second year of a degree or honours degree programme, depending on the match of the Edexcel Higher National units to the degree programme in question.
