HNC Fashion and Textiles
Level 4 Wisemore Campus One year full time or two years part time by negotiation.
This course has been designed to develop a range of skills and techniques relevant to the fashion industry.
Fashion designers generally work in three different areas: ‘haute couture’, designer ready-to-wear and high-street fashion. Within these areas, they will often specialise further, for example in men’s, children’s or sportswear. There are also career opportunities in styling, fashion retail management and fashion buying.
Level 4 Higher Certificate in Fashion and Textiles offer the opportunity to specialise within the scope of the units available.
The 10-unit Higher National Certificate in Fashion and Textiles provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the fashion and textiles sector and also offers particular specialist emphasis through the choice of specialist units.
Learners are encouraged to enter prestigious competitions to gain placements and employment in the industry or to continue developing skills further to HND level. This course is also suitable for employees currently
working in the trade who require a higher level qualification. Fashion learners will be participating in exhibiting at the Clotheshow Live event at the NEC.
The course may contain exciting opportunities for learners to experience such as possible trips to Europe or America.
Homework or private study is required.
Entry Requirements
By interview and design portfolio plus, a minimum of one A Level, National Diploma or GNVQ Advanced or Access to Higher Education Certificate or any other relevant Level 3 qualification.
Mature learners without any formal qualifications will be considered with relevant experience subject to interview.
Progression
A key progression path from the Higher National Certificate is to the Higher National Diploma or second year of a degree or honours degree programme, depending on the match of the Higher National units to the degree programme in question.
