BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance)

Level 3 Wisemore Campus 2 Years Full Time

The course focuses primarily on the practical skills of the dancer, through workshops, and small and large scale performances. Learners' may also take part in local tours and other performance events. There is an academic element to the course which enhances the understanding of dance through research tasks and a written portfolio of work. Learners' will keep up to date with their progress through regular tutorials and ongoing assessment of assignment work and special projects. This qualification offers the opportunity to experience the various technical elements of theatre, including set design and construction, lighting and sound. The main dance techniques studied are ballet, jazz and contemporary. There will be opportunities to go on theatre trips and backstage tours.

 

Entry Requirements

By interview, initial assessment, plus an individual dance audition, also, 4 GCSEs at grade A to C including English if possible, or BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts with a
strong merit profile. Other performing arts/dance qualifications will be taken into account. Mature learners with prior experience and knowledge are welcome and will be considered on an individual basis.

Progression

Higher National Diploma in Performing Arts, university or employment.
