BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts

Level 2 Wisemore Campus 1 Year Full Time

This practical course will give all learners the skills related to working in the performing arts. Learners will become part of the College’s own theatre company. This course provides an introduction to all aspects of performance including acting, singing and dance techniques, improvisation, devising and basic technical theatre. Research and a portfolio of work will support practical assignments and learners will keep up to date with their
progress through regular tutorials and ongoing assessment of assignments. Learners will take part in workshops, and small and large scale productions. There may be opportunities to go on theatre trips and backstage tours. Homework or private study is required.

 

Entry Requirements

By interview, initial assessment plus an individual acting audition; no formal entry requirements, although GCSEs in
Drama and or English are preferable (recommended grades D - E); Foundation and Access programmes in related subjects will be taken into consideration; a commitment to performing is essential.

Progression

Successful candidates can consider progression onto one of the National Diplomas in Performing Arts.
