Freedom of Information
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) provides right of public access to information held by public authorities. It is intended to promote an openness and accountability amongst public authorities, by providing people with access to information held by them.
It aims to provide the public with a better understanding of how public authorities carry out their duties, why they make the decisions they do and how they spend public money.
Further Education institutions fall within the definition of public authority. In line with the updated FOIA changes from the Information Commissioners Office, a new publication scheme will be arriving shortly.
